Eminem’s most recent album, The Death of Slim Shady (Coup de Grâce), has claimed the top spot on the Billboard 200 with the highest sales week of 2024 in the Hip Hop genre.

The album debuted at No. 1 on the chart with 281,000 equivalent album units, displacing Taylor Swift’s The Tortured Poets Department after a 12-week reign at the top.

The first-week sales of The Death of Slim Shady make it the biggest rap debut of 2024, surpassing the previous record set by Future and Metro Boomin’s We Don’t Trust You, which sold 251,000 units.

Additionally, Eminem’s latest release had the second-largest digital launch of the year with 114,000 sales, second only to Swift’s 274,000.

The physical release of The Death of Slim Shady is scheduled for September 13, and the album’s opening week sales fell within the projected range of 270,000 to 290,000 album-equivalent units.

This album marks Eminem’s 11th No. 1 album, placing him on par with Kanye West, Bruce Springsteen, and Barbra Streisand.

Only Drake (13), Swift (14), JAY-Z (also 14), and The Beatles (19) have more No. 1 albums. The Death of Slim Shady also had a stronger opening week than Eminem’s previous albums, 2020’s Music to be Murdered By (279,000) and 2017’s Revival (267,000).
