Rapper Edem has dismissed any controversy surrounding a viral video in which he was seen being pushed aside by Sarkodie’s bodyguard at an event. Addressing the situation in an interview on 3Music TV, he downplayed the incident, emphasizing that it was not a big deal.
“This was a walkway where everybody was. So, I think they pushed a couple of people. They were going to perform, and I had a glass of champagne in my hand, but somebody pushed me from the back, so I moved a little,” he explained.
Edem further noted that Sarkodie’s security team was simply doing their job, ensuring the rapper had a clear path to perform.
“And his security guys also did the right thing by trying to make sure that they go and do their work. It’s as simple as that. I don’t know who pushed me, but there was a lot going on. I don’t have to come and explain because this is nothing. He (Sarkodie) was on the way to work. I would also do the same thing. It’s not anything crazy like that.”
The incident, which took place at the 40th birthday celebration of businessman Richard Nii-Armah Quaye on March 22, 2025, saw Sarkodie and his entourage making their way through the crowd to the stage when Edem was momentarily obstructing their path. A bodyguard quickly moved him aside, an action that sparked debate online.
However, Edem dismissed any suggestions of bad blood, attributing the public reaction to sensationalism.
“Agenda boys have to eat. You know, it’s irrelevant things we like in this town. I’m the one there. I’m the one holding the champagne. How can I be bothered? I can’t be bothered,” he remarked.
He further revealed that Sarkodie later approached him after his performance, reinforcing that there was no issue between them.
“Sarkodie even walked up to me when he was done performing on stage. It doesn’t matter. We can’t worry about opinions now. We worry about facts,” he concluded.
