In a remarkable political achievement, actor-turned-politician John Dumelo defeated his long-time rival, Lydia Alhassan, in the 2024 parliamentary elections, securing the Ayawaso West Wuogon seat for the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

This victory in a constituency traditionally dominated by the New Patriotic Party (NPP) marked a significant milestone for Dumelo and the NDC.
