Ghanaian actor and skit creator Dr. Likee has disclosed that prior to his rise in the entertainment industry, he engaged in numerous street adventures that frequently landed him in trouble with law enforcement.
The actor, whose legal name is Ebenezer Akwasi Antwi, revealed to his colleague and host of the Okukuseku Show, Emelia Brobbey, that after dropping out of secondary school, life became challenging and he resorted to working as a scrap dealer before eventually becoming a land guard.
He recounted that a man he referred to as his boss, who had returned from the United States, introduced him to the drug trade. In his desperate pursuit of money and employment, Dr. Likee admitted to participating in the illegal drug trade and earning a substantial income, which allowed him to live a lavish lifestyle.
Dr. Likee emphasized that he even advised former convicts against engaging in armed robbery, instead suggesting they sell drugs, as robbery could result in death unlike the illicit drug trade.
“When you are on the street, the idea is to make money, and there are ways to do so without necessarily engaging in armed robbery. So if you are bold, you can engage in dealing with illicit drugs. Every week I used to go to the police station because I was arrested,”
Dr. Likee continued. “I could even introduce someone who has come out of prison to the illicit drug business instead of the person engaging in thievery. With the drugs, they don’t beat you when arrested, but with robbery, you could be crushed to death. The drug business was very lucrative.”
He claimed that his close friend accused him of being an armed robber due to his daytime presence at home and nighttime work schedule. He also mentioned being convicted six times for drug-related offenses, attributing his betrayal to his friends.
