The call for gender equality and the empowerment of women in leadership took center stage in Parliament as the Member of Parliament for Amenfi Central, Joana Gyan Cudjoe, urged society to recognize and support women’s capabilities beyond traditional roles.

Speaking on the floor of Parliament on Wednesday, March 12, 2025, in commemoration of International Women’s Day, she emphasized the need for women to be given equal opportunities in leadership, whether in politics or business.

“For ALL Women and Girls: Rights. Equality. Empowerment. Mr. Speaker, I know it’s not easy for women in leadership. Whether in politics or business, society often relegates women to secondary roles.

“It is time we recognize women’s capabilities and give them equal opportunities in leadership positions,” she stated.

She further encouraged young girls to aim high and believe in their potential, underscoring the importance of mindset in achieving success.

“To young girls out there, I say dream big. You can be a doctor, a teacher, or a scientist; it’s all about your mindset,” she added.
