Socialite, TV host and musician Shatta Michy has asked Ghanaians not to give birth to multiple kids if they are not financially in a good position to take care of them.

Speaking to TikToker cum radio host Felicia Osei on Onua FM, Michy correctly noted that before having children, a person should be able to provide the greatest possible quality of life for the child, both financially and emotionally.

Michy perforated the erroneous belief some Ghanaians especially Christians hold that children are gifts from God hence he will provide for their needs. On her part, she won’t have another child anytime soon until she cushions herself financially.

“Having a second child is particularly difficult right now because of the economy.” And I believe that working hard and producing one or two wealthy generations is preferable to having numerous children. Currently, tuition costs roughly GH10,000. Therefore, even if I divide it between two children, I will either need to lower the standard of the school or work more. It is not worthwhile to stress the kids.
