Ghanaian reggae dancehall artist, Charles Nii Armah Mensah, popularly known as Shatta Wale, has accused Despite Media and Hitz FM of playing a significant role in generating animosity towards him among a section of Ghanaians.
In an interview with Jay Forley and his team on 3Music, the outspoken musician asserted that Despite Media, which includes Peace FM and UTV, collaborated with Hitz FM, a subsidiary of Multmimedia Group, to portray him as a disrespectful individual, contributing to the negative perception some Ghanaians hold about him.

“I have a big problem with Despite Media; Despite Media and Hitz FM are the two radio stations that really got the people brainwashed. That’s why up till now you see any new blog say Shatta Wale does not respect and other stuff.
“Sometimes when I see it I tend to believe that they have brainwashed some Ghanaians. They have really used the media to brainwash them,” he stated.

Shatta Wale expressed bewilderment at the stark contrast between the immense support he receives from fans during his shows and the negativity directed towards him on social media platforms.
The artist has been embroiled in various conflicts with several media outlets and fellow artists, leading some to speculate that his controversial behavior may have contributed to his rise to fame.
Despite facing backlash from certain quarters, Shatta Wale remains a popular figure in entertainment in Ghana, with major support from his Shatta Movement fan army.
