‘Deep Songs’ Don’t Go Far- Kelvynboy

Kelvynboy has emphasized the importance of creating commercial songs that resonate with fans rather than focusing on ‘deep’ songs.

He defined ‘deep’ songs as conscious tracks with profound messages meant to educate listeners. Despite this, he acknowledged that consumers prefer songs they can dance to, so he and other artists will continue to cater to their preferences.

He characterized the phenomenon as an outcome of inattentive hearing, where individuals tend to prefer familiar sounds over music that stimulates deeper contemplation.

“In Ghana, if you do a deep song, it doesn’t get buzz. Ghanaians have these lazy ears. They want to hear what they expect; they don’t want to hear conscious music,” he said on 3Music TV.

He claimed to have the ability to simplify songs to better resonate with Ghanaians, yet he stated that he would not do so as it did not align with his musical intentions.

“I’ve always known that and I don’t do that. That’s why I’ve always stayed different.

“I know the simple things to say and I can say that. I know that it will be very easy for it to be catchy, but is that what God brought me here to do? To impress you?” he asked.
