Ghanaian musician Quamina MP has weighed in on the social media debate surrounding the liveliness of December festivities in Ghana.
In an exclusive interview with GhanaWeb journalist Isaac Dadzie during the Beyond Kontrol concert on December 26, 2024, the artist shared his perspective, expressing optimism about the festive season while highlighting significant challenges faced by Ghanaian musicians.
“I feel that December in Ghana is not dead,” Quamina MP confidently stated. “I think people have different energies, so I feel it is not dead.
“Moreover, I am still enjoying it.” His remarks challenge the trending notion that Nigerians have overshadowed Ghanaians in hosting memorable “Detty December” events, a claim that has stirred passionate conversations online.
While acknowledging the vibrancy of the season, Quamina MP was quick to point out a major concern for artists like himself: the lack of adequate promotion and financial backing. “I don’t know about everybody else, but my major problem is the lack of promotion and investment,” he said.
The Amanfour Girls hitmaker revealed that he often has to fund his promotional efforts independently.
“As an artiste, I am using my own money to do my promotion,” he added, hinting at the financial strain many Ghanaian musicians face in ensuring their music reaches a wider audience.
