Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Christian Tetteh Yohuno has entrusted Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCOP) Lydia Yaako Donkor with the leadership of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) as its new Director-General.
The Police Administration formally announced her appointment on Wednesday, March 19, 2025, marking a strategic move aimed at enhancing operational efficiency within the service.
DCOP Donkor transitions into the role with a wealth of experience in law enforcement and security management.
Prior to this, she spearheaded safety and security operations at the Ghana Football Association (GFA), where her expertise played a pivotal role in safeguarding football events in Ghana and across the continent. As Chairperson of the GFA’s Safety & Security Committee, she upheld stringent security standards at both local and international matches.
Her influence extends beyond Ghanaian football, as she also serves as a Safety and Security Officer for the Confederation of African Football (CAF), overseeing security protocols at major tournaments.
In addition to her security portfolio, DCOP Donkor is a key figure in Ghanaian women’s football, leading Police Ladies FC in the Ghana Women’s Premier League. Under her guidance, the club has become a dominant force, reflecting her dynamic leadership across different spheres.
