Davido has offered his condolences to his fellow artist, Wizkid, in light of the passing of his mother, Mrs. Jane Dolapo Balogun.
He took to his Instagram story to share his condolences with the artiste, saying that he is praying for him at this difficult time. “Praying for you my brother @Wizkidayo Sadness flies away on the wings of time,” he wrote.
Despite their rocky history, Davido and Wizkid have made up. Recently, the two artists have demonstrated their mutual affection for one another, specifically after Davido’s loss of his son Ifeanyi. When Davido lost his son in October of last 2022, Wizkid expressed his sympathy for the artist and honoured him at one of his shows. In return, Davido has sent tributes to Wizkid’s mom on his own social media accounts.
Mrs. Jane Dolapo Balogun, the mother of Wizkid, passed away around 1:30 a.m. on Friday, August 18, 2023, in a shocking event that has thrown the entertainment industry into a state of mourning. Wizkid’s longstanding manager, Sunday Aare, told The Punch that Mrs. Balogun passed away early on Friday morning. “Yes, she died this morning, at about 1.30 am,” Aare said.
The late Balogun was the mother of two other children, Yetunde Balogun and Lade Balogun. She was a pillar of support for her son’s successful music career. It is currently unclear what may have caused her death. The singer has yet to comment on the matter. As information becomes available, we will inform the general public.
