The identities of the other crew members who were on the boat with Junior Pope, whose real name is John Paul Odonwodo, have been identified, although their bodies have not yet been located.
According to Stanley, the movie producer, the sound engineer, and the make-up artist who were also on the boat when it overturned are still unaccounted for.
Following the boat accident on the River Niger in Asaba, four bodies were recovered which include the actor.
The incident occurred on Wednesday, April 10, while they were crossing the River Niger.
Emeka Rollas, the president of the Actors Guild of Nigeria, has stated that three individuals are still missing. The identity of the third missing person has not yet been established.
Meanwhile, after receiving the tragic news, director Samuel Olatunji went on X to announce the passing of Pope.
Olatunji revealed that Junior Pope and three fellow actors tragically perished in a boating incident, as their boat overturned in the Anam River while they were on their way to a film shoot.
Expressing his grief on Instagram, Olatunji wrote, “Four actors, including Jnr Pope, fell into Anam River on their way to a location, and their bodies have been recovered.
What a sad day for Nollywood. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family.”
