The Court of Appeal is set to make a crucial decision on Thursday, January 30, 2025, regarding the prosecution’s appeal against a High Court order that requires investigative journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas to unmask in front of Kwasi Nyantakyi before he can testify in an open court.
This ruling, which could determine the future course of the case, will be handed down by a three-member panel led by Justice Anthony Oppong.
The panel, which includes Justice Kweku Tawiah Ackaah Boafo and Justice Aboagye Tandoh, will evaluate submissions from both parties, who were instructed to file their written arguments by December 16, 2024.

At the heart of this legal drama is a 2023 High Court ruling where Justice Marie-Louise Simmons granted a request from the defense team of former Ghana Football Association President Nyantakyi.
The court mandated that Anas, a key prosecution witness in the fraud case involving Nyantakyi and Abdulai Alhassan, reveal his identity to the accused before testifying, while still remaining masked in the courtroom.
However, Anas, who has made a name for himself in the world of investigative journalism, rejected the ruling, halting the trial’s progress.
State prosecutors promptly appealed the High Court’s decision, which has left the matter in a state of limbo, awaiting resolution by the Court of Appeal.
