Mr. Robert Klah, the Head of Public Events and Communications at Charterhouse Ghana disclosed during an interview on Hitz FM the reasons behind Amaarae’s decision to pull out from performing at the 25th edition of the Telecel Ghana Music Awards.
He mentioned that the withdrawal was due to a lack of alignment in expectations between the artist and the organizers.
In his words, there was a specific request from Amaarae that was not initially fulfilled, but it was eventually addressed before the main event.
Despite resolving this issue, other undisclosed matters emerged, ultimately leading to the artist’s withdrawal from the performance.
“I would summarize it as unaligned expectations. Indeed, there was a request that was not met initially, but eventually, it was met.
“But then again, beyond that, other things came up, and while working on it, the artiste decided to pull out.
“That was at the beginning, but then before the day, before the final day itself, or before the main event, those things were sorted out,” he stated.
Tru News Report recently shared that Amaarae had withdrawn from the TGMAs over some misunderstanding with the organisers.
In a detailed social media post, she revealed how her excitement to perform in Ghana for the first time was shattered due to what she described as unprofessional behaviour from the organizers of the award scheme, Charterhouse.
Despite making arrangements and flying her team from the US, the performance fell through as TGMA claimed that she and her team were late for rehearsals.
Amaarae is known for fusion of pop, R&B, afrobeats, and alté, as well as her fluid representation of gender and sexuality. After collaborating with local artists and putting out a few non-album singles, she released her debut EP, Passionfruit Summers, in 2017.
