In a bold claim of resilience, Afua Asantewaa Aduonum after five days of continuous singing, emphasised her resolve to defy sleep against all odds.

Asantewaa, who is aiming to break the current Guinness World Record for the singing marathon, commenced her adventure at 12:00 am on December 24, 2023, and has never looked back since.

After five days, an energetic-looking Afua Asantewaa took a moment to underscore her resilience, proclaiming “champions don’t sleep,” midway through a song.

She has since gone ahead to add a day more and ended in the early hours of Friday, December 29, 2023.

Afua’s singing marathon has become the centre of attention in entertainment in Ghana as several dignitaries and celebrities over the days keep on showing up at the Akwaaba Village in Accra to show her support.

Also joining her support base is an ever-growing crowd of Ghanaians who keep cheering her on.

Social media has also been flooded with messages of goodwill and encouragement for Afua as she keeps at her attempts.

The current record for the longest singing marathon is held by an Indian, Sunil Waghmare, who did 105 hours of singing in 2012.
