Celebrating The Dead More Than The Living Is Normal- MzVee

MzVee has stated that Ghana is not the only country that celebrates the dead more than the living in response to the tragic passing of Nigerian artiste, Mohbad.

The Ghanaian songstress claims that the circumstances surrounding the death of the Nigerian musician have made it a hot topic, which is why most people have openly eulogized him. In Lagos, hundreds of young Nigerians wearing white shirts gathered for a candlelight march in memory of the country’s artiste who passed away on September 12.

Speaking on Property FM in Cape Coast, the former Lynx Entertainment star said it’s actually normal for us to celebrate the dead more than the living because it has become a culture ingrained in us for a very long time.

MzVee also said that given the circumstances surrounding Mohbad’s death, it’s not surprising that there has been an outpour of love for him after he died and not when he was alive.

Celebrating the dead more than the living is not just a Ghanaian thing but it’s everywhere and it’s a very normal thing,” she told Amansan Krakye in an interview. I think for that guy the circumstances surrounding his death and all that I think people were really angered by that. So it makes the whole issue so sensitive that people want to talk about him more than it would have been.

Mzvee was in the news recently when she granted a new interview and revealed why she’s more ‘conscious’ with her lyrics and the overall overview of the kind of music she churns out lately.

Additionally, Mzvee said that she is committed to doing more music and emphasized that she cannot imagine a life without it. She shed light on the motivation for her dedication to music in an interview with 3xtra while discussing the inspiration behind her songs and career.

The former Lynx Entertainment-signed artiste recently released her newest song, “Destiny,” to celebrate her ten years in the music business. She said that because music is such a big part of who she is, she can’t imagine her life without it.

“I don’t see myself without Music. Music is me, and so there’s no going away from music. I guess I’m being more inspiring now, and I am more positive with my lyrics,” she said.

MzVee, who has consistently thrilled audiences with her music, also disclosed that she always has a favourite song from her catalogue, but the one holding a special place in her heart at the moment is her latest creation, ‘Destiny.’

She explained, “I always have a favourite, like it depends on the time. Right now, the special one is the new one, not just because it’s new. The title is ‘Destiny.’ If you listen to the lyrics of the song, you will understand I wouldn’t have to talk too much.”
