Camidoh’s hard work has paid off as he bagged the Best New Artiste nomination in the forthcoming 2023 BET.

Camidoh will be competing with Asake from Nigeria, Flo from the UK, Libianca from Cameroon, Maureen from France, MC Ryan SP from Brazil, Pabi Cooper from South Africa, Raye from the UK, and Werenoi from France.

The BET Awards is an American award show that was established in 2001 by the Black Entertainment Television Network to celebrate black entertainers and other minorities in music, film, sports and philanthropy.

The awards, which are presented annually, are broadcast live on BET. The annual presentation ceremony features performances by artists; some of the awards of more popular interest are presented in a televised ceremony.

The Award Trophy was created by artist and sculptor Carlos “Mare139” Rodriguez and was based on the words “aspire, ascend, and achieve.”

In 2001, Outkast took home the inaugural trophy during the ceremony. The trophy’s design was improved in 2007 by Society Awards, the New York company that creates the award, by combining plated steel and black crystal.

On the Las Vegas Strip, the Paris Las Vegas Hotel hosted the inaugural event in 2001. The Hollywood Kodak Theatre served as the ceremony’s host from 2002 until 2005. The events were hosted in Los Angeles’ Shrine Auditorium from 2006 through 2012. In 2013, the event was relocated to the Microsoft Theater at L.A. Live.

The Sugarcane hitmaker, whose real name is Raphael Camidoh Kofi Attachie recently said musicians in Ghana are not making much money as they should.

In an interview on Hitz FM, Camidoh said that Ghanaian musicians should be making more from music than they are currently making. ” We should be making more from music than we are right now. We are making chicken change”.

“Let’s just say Sony music wants to sign an artist in Ghana the same artist of that caliber in Nigeria the money they will call for firsthand is not the same money they call for Ghana artists I’m not playing. Because I feel like upon traveling around the world I’m realizing that bro there’s more we should be making out of this music than we are making right now. we are actually making just chicken change bro.” he said.

He continued by saying that if they were to become more successful in the music industry, they would be able to appreciate DJs playing their songs by giving them a significant amount of money.

“So I’m feeling like we just need to big it up all so if I am giving tip I will give proper tip. Plenty Ghanaian artists can’t throw money in traffic because he does not have it, he is just famous but doesn’t have the money. So I just feel like it time to get up me, Kidi, Mr. Drew, everyone should get up it’s not about us but it’s about growing the system but if you alone want to do it you can’t, because you alone cannot compete against the whole nation I just want more for us to be out. my prayer is for more of us to be out there.
