Burna Boy has officially exceeded one billion streams in the United Kingdom.
During his sold-out show at the London Stadium on Saturday night, the Grammy award-winning artiste was presented with a BRIT plaque to commemorate this achievement.
Despite this, Burna Boy expressed his disappointment with the recognition, stating that he reached this milestone over two years ago and is unsure why he is being acknowledged now.
He emphasized that if he is receiving recognition at this time, the numbers should be updated to reflect the current statistics.
“What I want to know is why I’m getting this? Why not add all of them together; a bigger one. This was two years ago; nawa for una o. You people should update but I appreciate it,” he stated.

Nevertheless, he thanked the organizers for the gesture but requested them to revise their records.
In addition, Burna Boy now joins Wizkid as the only African artistes to surpass a billion streams in the United Kingdom.
Furthermore, he holds the record for the highest-charting African album on the UK chart, with his album ‘Love, Damini’ reaching the top spot in July 2022.
After the successful show on Saturday, Burna Boy made history by becoming the first African artiste to sell out the 80,000-capacity London Stadium twice.
