Steve Harvey has said it is not true that Burna Boy stole elements of the American music genre as being propagated by fans from rival camps.

He firmly stated that it is the West, particularly America, that draws inspiration from African beats, rhythm, and soul, which are masterfully crafted by Burna Boy and other African artists.

Harvey made this enlightening statement during his appearance as a panelist on a television program, emphasizing the unity between Africans and Black Americans.

Burna Boy

The comedian said; “They talk about ‘Burna Boy stole this’, no we stole from Burna Boy. Them Africans is us. Africans are the beats, soul, rhythm, and hard work. We get our courage from them. When you see them people, they look just like your family.”

In a similar vein, Burna Boy and his older colleague Eedris Abdulkareem clashed over the notion that no one had paved the way for Burna Boy in the music industry, which has been instrumental in his meteoric rise.

To this end, Abdulkareem criticized Burna Boy for claiming that he received no assistance from anyone in the Nigerian entertainment industry, dismissing it as nonsensical.

But in a now-deleted tweet, Burna Boy replied; “Abdul Kareem Abi wetin dem dey call your papa, I no blame you. I blame people wey donate money for your hospital bills. And I wish say you be person wey fit dey enter the kind places wey I dey dey, make we use mistake jam.”
