Ghanaian journalist and media personality Bridget Otoo has expressed strong disapproval of a viral video showing vehicles allegedly associated with the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in a competitive and dangerous road race.
The video, shared widely on social media, reportedly shows two pick-up trucks, one branded with NDC colours and the other with NPP insignia, racing through a busy area while blaring campaign songs—a scene that has drawn mixed reactions online.
Otoo voiced her condemnation on X (formerly Twitter), calling out the drivers for their reckless behaviour, which she argued could have put innocent lives in jeopardy. “Honestly, both drivers are stupid.
Putting people’s lives at risk over the campaign,” she posted, criticizing the disregard for public safety. Her blunt response underscored her concerns about political enthusiasm crossing dangerous lines, especially when it jeopardizes public welfare.
The incident reportedly occurred in the Ledzokuku constituency, an area known for its politically active residents and party-aligned events during election periods.
With election-related tensions often intensifying as campaigns ramp up, this incident highlights the occasionally hazardous lengths that political supporters may go to demonstrate loyalty.
Reactions to the video have been split, with some social media users echoing Otoo’s concerns about safety, while others see it as typical election fervour.
However, Otoo’s comments shine a light on the broader issue of road safety and the need for responsible conduct among political supporters. Her critique also sparks a broader conversation on the conduct of party loyalists and how political enthusiasm can be channelled in safer, more community-focused ways.
As political activities gain momentum, such incidents might prompt public figures and citizens alike to call for more responsible behaviour, underscoring the importance of safety over showmanship in public spaces.
