Blakk Rasta is a drunkard- Chairman Wontumi

The regional chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Ashanti region, Bernard Antwi Boasiako, widely known as Chairman Wontumi has harshly criticized Blakk Rasta for criticising his ‘Ghana is better than UK’ comment.

In response to the criticism, the controversial politician accused the Barack Obama hitmaker of being a drunkard, thereby further accentuating the aggressive manner in which he has been known to confront individuals.

Previously, Chairman Wontumi has engaged with the media, making comparisons regarding the standard of living between the United Kingdom and Ghana.

“I acknowledge that there is hardship in the country. However, this hardship is global, and we are actively working to improve the quality of life for the people of Ghana. The standard of living in Ghana is better than that in the UK.

“For instance, even at social gatherings in the UK, attendees are required to bring their own drinks, water, and food. After paying rent of 800 pounds and other bills from a salary of 1,500 pounds, there is little left for savings or family expenses. In contrast, accessing healthcare in Ghana does not require booking appointments as in the UK.

“I urge journalists to provide accurate information to the people of Ghana, and for those abroad to honestly explain global economic hardships to their families. It’s important to recognize that COVID-19 and the Russia-Ukraine conflict have negatively impacted every country,” he explained during the media briefing.

Ghanaians then expressed severe criticism towards his remarks, accusing him of engaging in superficial political tactics and displaying a patronizing attitude during a period of significant hardship within his administration.

Blakk Rasta also entered the discussion, criticizing him for his comments and expressing disbelief in Chairman Wontumi’s statements, characterizing him as mentally unstable and disconnected from the realities of the situation.

“Our ancestors say the madman’s dance is amusing to everyone except his family. They would take him home, bathe him, feed him, clothe him, and even restrain him from entertaining others again. Chairman Wontumi is that madman,” he remarked passionately on 3FM.

Highlighting the disparities between Ghana and the UK, Blakk Rasta pointed out the superior infrastructure and services in the UK compared to Ghana. “In the UK, they have electricity 25 hours a day, eight days a week. They have running water, accessible healthcare, and quality education,” he emphasised.

He further criticised Chairman Wontumi’s comments, suggesting they bordered on the irrational.

“With this speech and some others that he has made, he is sounding like a psychopath,” he stated on his show on 3FM.

In this new development, Chairman Wontumi, dissatisfied with Blakk Rasta’s remarks directed towards him, characterized him as a person of questionable integrity and a journalist with a history of corruption.

“It is never good to argue with a tomfoolery. You are a very corrupt journalist. You take in something before you come to talk, drunkard.

“Whenever you hear me talk, be circumspect and analyze it before responding. I will never say something insulting about the UK. That is where I was brought up, that is where my children come from. That is my second home,” Wontumi hit back in an audio played on 3FM.
