Blakk Rasta has criticized actor James Gardner for a recent statement regarding political affiliations and the support of their fans.
James expressed that he would not be concerned about losing fans or business opportunities if he openly declared his support for the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) or the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
In response, Blakk Rasta deemed Gardner’s remarks as irresponsible and reckless, especially considering the negative consequences that have historically befallen celebrities who align themselves with either of these political parties.
“James Gardner says he doesn’t care if you are not his fan because of his decisions. No, sir. Don’t say that.
“This is irresponsible talking. It’s almost like saying my children are old enough to make their own decisions, so, I don’t care if I sit at home and smoke cigarettes and drink alcohol in front of them. Does it make sense to you?” Blakk Rasta said on his programme on 3FM.
Blakk Rasta emphasized to Gardner that celebrities wield significant influence over their followers, and their political affiliations could have an impact on them.
He pointed out that since their fans are often aligned with various political parties, a celebrity’s political stance could influence their fanbase.
“Let us be responsible. Nobody is saying don’t take sides. You can decide to be a member of any political party, but keep it to yourself.
“Again, you can decide to belong to any religion. But please keep it to yourself as a celebrity,” he urged.
He further added; “So, please let’s be careful when we make utterances like this, they are quite arrogant. The people made you. Now you’ve gone to sit on top and you say you don’t care whatever they think of you,” Blakk Rasta concluded.
