Black Sherif, following the success of his debut album The Villain I Never Was, has excitedly revealed to his fans that his second album, Iron Boy, is currently in the works.
He expressed his determination to make history with the level of investment and energy being poured into this upcoming project.
Making this known while picking his award at the TGMA Industry Mix Saturday, he said “To everybody listening to me right now we are closer to Iron Boy than we’ve ever been. Give me a few months, I love you”.
Black Sherif’s first album set a new record by accumulating more than one billion streams on four major digital streaming platforms: Spotify, Boomplay, YouTube, and Audiomack.
Launched on October 6, 2022, the 14-track album highlights Black Sherif’s versatility in genres, with collaborations with artists such as Burna Boy on the Second Sermon Remix.
The album’s theme revolved around being misunderstood, as depicted in songs like “Konongo Zongo,” where Black Sherif shares personal stories of going against societal expectations to create his own path.
With production credits to a team that includes Joker, Samsney, and Jae5, among others, “The Villain I Never Was” provides a 40-minute listening experience that blends hip-hop, pop, hiplife, and reggae rhythms with a hint of highlife.
Despite not factoring in streams from platforms like Apple Music, Black Sherif’s accomplishment establishes him as the first Ghanaian artist to achieve a billion streams with a debut album.
