Beyonce’s Daughter, Rumi Carter Becomes Youngest Female On Billboard Hot 100 Chart

Billboard has confirmed that Rumi Carter has made history as the youngest female artist to ever chart on the Hot 100 list since its inception in 1958.

At just six years and nine months old, Rumi achieved this remarkable feat with her feature on “Protector,” the fourth track on Beyoncé’s latest album Cowboy Carter, which secured the #42 position on the chart dated April 13, 2024.

Rumi’s accomplishment with “Protector” becomes even more impressive when considering that her older sister, Blue Ivy Carter, previously held this title. In 2019, Blue Ivy became the then-youngest female artist to enter the Hot 100 with her song “Brown Skin Girl” from The Lion King: The Gift.

However, there is one record that Rumi cannot surpass Blue Ivy in. Blue Ivy still holds the distinction of being the youngest credited artist to appear on any Billboard chart, thanks to her contribution to Jay-Z’s “Glory” in 2012, less than 48 hours after her birth.

While both of these records are significant achievements for the Carter sisters, it is worth noting that the youngest artist overall to enter the Hot 100 is still French singer Jordy, who accomplished this at the age of five with the song “Dur dur d’être bébé! (It’s Tough to Be a Baby!).”

It is not just Rumi who is making music history within the Carter family. Beyoncé has also achieved a major milestone with Cowboy Carter, becoming the first Black woman ever to reach the top spot on the Top Country Albums chart, which was established in 1964.

According to Billboard, Cowboy Carter has not only topped the Top Country Albums list but has also claimed the No. 1 position on the Billboard 200 and the Americana/Folk Albums charts.

Additionally, Beyoncé has placed a total of 23 songs on this week’s Hot 100 list, with three of them (“Texas Hold’ Em,” “II Most Wanted,” and “Jolene”) reaching the top 10.
