Bisa KDei has unexpectedly supported the idea of youth participation in gambling, highlighting its significance as a primary source of income for them and their families.
The renowned Highlife artist expressed this viewpoint during an interview with Amansan Krakye on Property FM, in response to the commitments made by former President John Mahama and Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia to eliminate the betting tax if they are elected.
In his remarks, Bisa KDei emphasized the crucial role that gambling plays in the lives of young people, particularly in light of the widespread unemployment affecting the nation.
The celebrated Highlife musician stated that participating in betting is a more favourable option compared to engaging in criminal activities such as armed robbery.
He remarked “If it were to be in the past we would say that betting is bad but for now betting helps to put money in people’s pockets.
“Betting is helping to put food on the table of a lot of the unemployed youth and they use their betting earnings to take care of the families.
“Even though with betting you win some and you lose some if it’s helping some people to make a living then let’s allow them to do it.
“Betting is way better than engaging in stealing or armed robbery because when it is removed and people don’t have a way to make a living they might engage in crime,” he said.
