Black Sherif’s reputation reached new heights when the 2024 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) included a section about him, prompting students to write brief notes about his background and contributions.
This solidified his status alongside esteemed figures such as Agya Koo Nimo and Ephraim Amu in the Creative Arts portion of the exam.
Students were asked to demonstrate their knowledge of his hometown, genre of work, a specific example of his works, and his impact on society.
In perspective, Question 5 (c) of section B of the examination reads: “Write short notes on any of the following composers; focusing on his hometown, genre of work, one example of his works and contribution to society.
(i) Ephraim Amu
(ii) Agya Koo Nimo
(iii) Black Sherif”

At the time of filing this report, Black Sherif had not responded to this heartwarming news, while rapper D-Black, who had a similar experience with UG students, promptly reacted on Twitter.

GhanaStreetJournal has earlier mentioned that D-Black was deeply moved upon learning that his song, ‘My Kinda Girl’, was being studied by students in the literature department at the University of Ghana, Legon.
The song, which was released in 2013 and features Sarkodie, has gained recognition among the students.
D-Black, in a post shared sighted by GhanaStreetJournal said the fact that his lyrics were analyzed during the last semester of the academic calendar brought him great joy, as he shared the news on his timeline.
In his words, as an artist who was just starting in the industry at the time, he, along with Sarkodie, aimed to share their stories and express themselves without the pressure of commercial success.
Over a decade later, he is thrilled that students are now dissecting the content of his music for academic purposes.
