Bawumia Sends Heartfelt Thanks to Ghanaians for Their Support

Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the outgoing Vice President of Ghana and the defeated flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), took to Twitter to express his heartfelt gratitude to the people of Ghana as he bowed out of office.

“Thank you, all Ghanaians, for all the support you gave me as Vice President of the Republic from 2017-2025. God bless our homeland, Ghana,” Bawumia wrote in his tweet, acknowledging the faith the citizens had placed in him throughout his tenure.

Bawumia’s loss in the highly anticipated election marks the end of a political chapter for him as he transitions from the role of Vice President to a private citizen.

His concession speech came on the heels of the election results, in which Mahama claimed victory in the 2024 presidential race.

Before the official announcement of Mahama’s win, Bawumia displayed remarkable composure. Standing in front of the press, he stated, “I respect the decision of Ghanaians to vote for change. The people have spoken, and I’ve just called His Excellency John Mahama to congratulate him as president-elect of the Republic of Ghana.”
