Bawumia Leads List of Honorees at 2024 National Awards

On Monday, December 30, 2024, President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo honoured several distinguished individuals for their outstanding service, dedication, sacrifices, and contributions to Ghana’s development.

The 2024 National Honours and Awards ceremony, held in Accra, celebrated excellence across various fields.

At the forefront of the awardees was Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, who received the prestigious Order of the Star of Ghana, Officer Award.

His running mate, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, was also recognized for his contributions to public service with the Order of the Volta, Officer Award, a category that notably included MPs and government appointees.

Other recipients in this category include Ignatius Baffour-Awuah, Kweku Ofori Asiamah, Ursula Owusu-Ekuful, Kwasi Amoako-Atta, Dr. Kwaku Afriyie, Mavis Hawa Koomson, Ambrose Dery, Dominic Nitiwul, and Dr. Owusu Afriyie Akoto.

The Creative Arts category celebrated icons such as Kwaw Ansah, Daddy Lumba, Gyedu Blay Ambolley, and Juliet Asante for their significant impact on Ghana’s cultural landscape.
