Young actor Hudson Meek is reportedly dead. His untimely death, confirmed by the Jefferson County Coroner, has left a profound void in the lives of those who knew him and admired his work.
Meek, who captured hearts in the 2017 film Baby Driver, succumbed to injuries sustained on December 19, following a fall from a moving vehicle in his hometown of Vestavia Hills, Alabama.
Despite efforts to save him, he was pronounced dead two days later at the University of Alabama Hospital in Birmingham.
Local authorities are investigating the circumstances surrounding the accident, which has shaken the close-knit community where Meek grew up.
In a heartfelt post shared on his Instagram account, his family wrote, “Our hearts are broken to share that Hudson Meek went home to be with Jesus tonight. His 16 years on this earth were far too short, but he accomplished so much and profoundly impacted everyone he met.”
A memorial service honouring his life is scheduled for December 28 at Dawson Memorial Baptist Church in Homewood, Alabama, with live stream access provided for those unable to attend.
Described in his obituary as “reflective and thoughtful” yet “unwaveringly determined,” Meek’s personality was as dynamic as his talents. “Hudson’s personality was one of a kind,” the tribute read. “He was bold, spontaneous, and quick-witted.
A natural storyteller, he could turn even the most mundane moments into something unforgettable, often with a mischievous grin and a well-timed joke. Hudson loved to laugh and lived to make others laugh with him.”
Meek was a vibrant sophomore at Vestavia Hills High School, where he juggled football, choir, and leadership roles in the Fellowship of Christian Athletes.
Beyond his school life, his passion for acting shone brightly when he landed his breakout role in Baby Driver, portraying the younger version of Ansel Elgort’s character.
His performance hinted at a promising career that was, sadly, cut far too short.
