The 2024 general election has sparked debates and controversies, but one politician is calling for calm and acceptance of the electoral results.

Member of Parliament-elect for Okaikwei Central, Baba Sadiq, has publicly urged his rival, Patrick Boamah, to accept the outcome of the election and focus on the future.

During an interview on Hitz FM, Baba Sadiq emphasized the importance of respecting the decision of the Electoral Commission, which declared the results in favour of the winners. “I think he must accept the results so we can all move on,” Baba Sadiq stated.

While acknowledging that Patrick Boamah has the option to challenge the results in court, he stressed that the commission’s declaration should be honoured. “We can’t ignore the fact that the Electoral Commission has declared the outcome,” he added.

Baba Sadiq further reflected on the larger context of the election, noting that it marked a shift in the public’s desire for change.

“I would have wished that someone who had been voted in three times by the constituents would understand the desire for change this time around,” he said.

With the clear message of change from the electorate, Sadiq believes it’s time for Patrick Boamah to accept his fate and consider exploring other opportunities.

Sadiq didn’t shy away from praising Boamah’s experience and character. “He is a fine gentleman; he’s got a very good political experience,” Sadiq acknowledged.

“I think he can move up, and there is every opportunity for him to move up within his party or within the political ladder itself.”
