Azumah Nelson paid for my secondary education – Celestine Donkor says

Gospel singer Celestine Donkor has disclosed that the retired Ghanaian boxer Azumah Nelson generously funded her senior high education.

She shared this revelation on Facebook while sharing a sincere message to celebrate his birthday, which is today, July 19.

Celestine recounted that her family was unable to cover the expenses associated with her secondary school education, and the possibility of pursuing higher education and achieving prominence seemed unattainable until Azumah Nelson stepped in at the right time.

Celestine posted;

“A glorious birthday to the man that gave me secondary education. My family at that time had no ideas how my secondary education would be funded but for this great man.

Happy birthday Azumah Zoom Zoom Nelson. I thank God for your life.”

Azumah Nelson is a a retired professional boxer from Ghana, who had an impressive career spanning from 1979 to 2008.

He achieved the status of a two-weight world champion, holding the WBC featherweight title from 1984 to 1987 and the WBC super-featherweight title twice from 1988 to 1997.

In 1990, he also made a challenge for the unified WBC and IBF lightweight titles.

Additionally, at the regional level, he secured the ABU and Commonwealth featherweight titles between 1980 and 1982.

Regarded as one of the top African boxers in history, Azumah Nelson currently holds the 69th position in the list of greatest pound for pound boxers of all time by BoxRec.
