Which album is No. 1?
Apple Music has crowned Lauryn Hill’s groundbreaking debut album, “The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill,” as the greatest album of all time.
Released in 1998, “The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill” surpassed other legendary records from artistes such as Beyoncé, The Beatles, Michael Jackson, Prince, Stevie Wonder, Kendrick Lamar, Amy Winehouse, Frank Ocean, and Nirvana to claim the coveted top spot on Apple Music’s prestigious 100 best albums of all time list.
The album, which marked Hill’s solo debut after her success with the Fugees, was hailed by Apple Music as a “stunningly raw, profound exploration into the spiritual terrain of not just one of the era’s most prominent artists, but of the era itself.” Featuring chart-topping singles like “Doo Wop (That Thing),” “Ex-Factor,” and “Everything Is Everything,” the album’s impact transcended the music industry.
Hill made history at the 1999 Grammys, becoming the first woman to win five awards in one night for “The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill,” including best new artist, best R&B album, and album of the year.
Michael Jackson’s “Thriller” came at No. 2, The Beatles’ “Abbey Road” at No. 3, Prince & The Revolution’s “Purple Rain” at No. 4, and Frank Ocean’s “Blonde” at No. 5
