Rapper Amerado has disclosed that he has been attempting to collaborate with a Ghanaian musician but has been unsuccessful.
During an interview on Adinkra Radio Entertainment show, the musician whose real name is Derrick Sarfo Kantanka hinted that the musician, whose identity he chose not to disclose, may have declined the opportunity to work on a potential hit song.
This revelation came about when the host, MC Ogee, inquired about the musician who had been difficult to collaborate with.
“I can’t mention the musician’s name but up until now, I am still struggling to get the person to do a collaboration with me.
“No, in fact, I have given up. I pushed but it never worked out. He is a male, but I won’t mention his name. That musician is the reason why I started singing on my own. Because I knew I could do it. He’s a very popular musician who has been singing for a long time,” Amerado said.
In addition, the artist known as Kwaku Ananse mentioned Okyeame Kwame, Reggie Rockstone, Obrafuor, Edem, and Sarkodie as influential figures in the music industry whom he admires.
“I like Okyeame Kwame for his decency and his affection for love, Edem for his ingenuity, he always representing his roots.
“Sarkodie for being very charismatic, Reggie Rockstone for his flair and Obrafo for his vintage flow.”
“I am very particular about people I love. I just don’t love like that. I love people for how impactful they are in my life.”
Ironically, Amerado’s comment comes days after Barima Sydney revealed how he snubbed him for collaboration during an interview with Giovani Caleb on 3FM on Thursday, July 11 and monitored by GhanaStreetJournal.
Sydney expressed his desire to reconnect with the music scene and regain his former glory by collaborating with one of the current generation’s hottest rappers.
His team suggested Amerado, known for hits like Kwaku Ananse, as a suitable candidate for this project.
The veteran rapper said despite reaching out to Amerado and requesting his instrumental for the collaboration, he received no response after a few days.
When he finally contacted Amerado, he was informed that the management had advised against the collaboration and suggested a remix of one of his older songs instead.
