Twitter influencer Edhub has shared a new video showcasing Highlife legend Amakye Dede captivating a large audience of politicians with a series of songs from his extensive repertoire.
The event marked Ghana’s Founders’ Day, which was observed on August 4th but rescheduled to Monday, August 5th, due to the holiday falling on a weekend.
Amakye Dede who recently received a Lifetime Achievement award from the organizers of the annual Telecel Ghana Music Awards delivered an outstanding performance that thrilled notable figures such as President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, former First Lady Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings, Chief of Staff Akosua Frema Osei-Opare, and numerous other dignitaries at the Founders’ Day luncheon held at the Jubilee House.
In the video, the president and other esteemed guests were seen dancing to Amakye Dede’s popular tracks ‘Sike ne Barima’ and ‘Akwadawesoa.’
Founders’ Day is a national holiday dedicated to honouring the contributions of various individuals, particularly the “Big Six,” who played pivotal roles in Ghana’s fight for independence.
Previously known as “Founder’s Day,” with an apostrophe “S,” the holiday celebrated the accomplishments of Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah.
