Esther Smith has urged Ghanaians to exercise restraint and caution ahead of the presidential elections set for this December.
The veteran gospel singer emphasized that our varied opinions and political affiliations should not lead to discord but should instead strengthen our democracy as we collectively seek the best solutions for improving Ghana.
She pointed out that it is unrealistic for everyone to belong to the same political party, stressing that supporters of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) should not react with hostility towards those who support other parties, especially the ruling party.
‘The little advice I can give is to vote for who you prefer and go home quietly because some people sacrifice their lives for politicians but when they come things remain the same.
‘It’s on a few occasions that we feel some changes so vote peacefully and this is just a contest of ideas but being an NDC doesn’t mean everyone should belong to where you are.
‘Everyone has gotten their own mindset and even twins from the same mother have different opinions so I’ll say that look at what is happening in your life to vote,’ she said on Property FM.
Furthermore, Esther Smith acknowledges that politicians often deceive, and their unfulfilled commitments and significant ineptitude have resulted in widespread poverty among Ghanaians.
‘Our politicians are full of lies and they keep on making unfulfilled promises but at the end of the day, the youth continue to suffer through hardships’, she added.
