The President of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, was spotted jamming to the tunes of Samini during the Easter celebration at Kwahu in the Eastern Region.
Surrounded by his security detail and team members, he showcased his signature dance moves, much to the delight of onlookers.
While some Ghanaians believe that the president should be more focused on addressing the economic challenges facing the country, others argue that it is important for him to take a break and enjoy some leisure time amidst his busy schedule.
The Easter celebrations in Kwahu have gained immense popularity, attracting widespread media coverage and national attention.
Similar to other Akan tribes, the Kwahus traditionally celebrated the “Okwahu Afahye” festival, which reached its peak in December and spanned from October to December.
However, due to challenges arising from the timing of the festival conflicting with the peak trading season in December, many Kwahus migrated to major Ghanaian cities like Accra and Kumasi. Consequently, the Kwahu Festival, also peaking in December, began to decline in popularity.
To maintain patronage, the Kwahu Traditional Council decided to shift the celebration to Easter, resulting in the now-renowned Kwahu Easter Festival.
This event attracts visitors from all over the country and beyond, with both locals and diaspora returning to partake in the festivities.
The Easter celebrations have become a vital source of income for the people of Kwahu, offering various entertainment activities and opportunities for business connections to flourish.
