In the wake of John Dramani Mahama’s inauguration as the sixth president of Ghana under the Fourth Republic, both Nana Akufo-Addo and Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the outgoing president and vice president respectively, have made a notable update to their social media profiles, officially reflecting their new statuses.
Shortly after Mahama took the oath of office at the Black Star Square in Accra, Nana Akufo-Addo and Dr. Bawumia, who had served the nation for eight years, updated their social media biographies to reflect their new roles as the former president and vice president of Ghana.
This symbolic gesture aligns with the transition of power that was marked by the swearing-in ceremony on January 7, 2025.
Both Akufo-Addo and Bawumia attended the inauguration in person, their presence adding a sense of continuity to the occasion.
As Mahama took the stage, the two political leaders were seen exchanging warm greetings and pleasantries with the newly inaugurated president.
Their smiles and gestures underscored the spirit of amicable transition, even amidst the fierce political competition in the lead-up to the election.
The updated social media statuses reflect a peaceful transfer of power in Ghana, a country known for its stable democracy in the West African region.
