The Nigerian entertainment industry, the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) has placed actress Halima Abubakar on indefinite suspension.
This decision comes after a thorough investigation conducted by a special Secret Investigation Panel, established to probe the activities of certain bloggers and their potential impact on the reputation of AGN members.
The investigation, which spanned over two years, aimed to uncover the sources of slanderous information that has circulated about various members, associates, and patrons of the Guild.
According to the panel’s findings, Halima Abubakar was identified as the individual behind the defamatory claims, particularly those concerning alleged extramarital affairs involving prominent figures in society.
The AGN’s statement outlined the gravity of the situation, noting, “Following the thorough investigative report by the special Secret Investigation Panel, it was found that Miss Halima Abubakar was behind all the slandering information.”
The Guild emphasized that such actions undermine the integrity of its members and the industry as a whole.
In light of the findings, Halima Abubakar is set to face the National Disciplinary Committee, which will determine the appropriate punishment for her actions. During this suspension period, she is barred from participating in any AGN activities, including filming.
The AGN has assigned National and State Chapter task forces to ensure compliance with this order, stating that violations could result in further disciplinary measures.
“On behalf of the Actors Guild of Nigeria, I commend the professional and incisive work done by members of the secret investigative panel,” the AGN expressed, acknowledging the extensive effort put into the investigation.
The statement reflects a commitment to maintaining a professional environment within the Guild, emphasizing that reputations built over the years can be tarnished by unfounded rumors.
Furthermore, the AGN hinted at ongoing investigations into other female members, especially concerning a recent list of names allegedly linked to dealings with the Senate President.
This announcement has sparked curiosity and concern within the industry, with many anticipating further revelations and possible repercussions.
