Former Director of the National Signals Bureau (NSB), Kwabena Adu Boahene, has been arrested in connection with a $7 million government contract scandal. His wealth accumulation, including prime real estate acquisitions in Accra, is now under scrutiny.
Investigations by the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) reveal that Boahene allegedly diverted government funds meant for a cyber defense system into private accounts. According to Attorney General Dr. Dominic Ayine, millions of dollars were siphoned through fraudulent transactions.
Boahene was apprehended at Kotoka International Airport upon his return from London. EOCO’s probe links him to excess payments disguised as government contracts, with over GHS 39.4 million ($5.6 million) allegedly funneled for personal gain.
The investigation has also traced multiple high-value properties in Accra’s Mayfair Estates to Boahene, including:
- No. 2 Stream Part Drive – Valued at $1 million (GHS 15 million).
- No. 6 Edith Avenue – Purchased with a $500,000 cash deposit, part of a deal for five houses.
- No. 7 Edith Avenue – Acquired for $200,000.
EOCO continues to investigate Boahene’s financial dealings as legal proceedings unfold.
