Britain’s Got Talent finalist, Afronitaa is using the significant exposure and opportunity she gained from her participation in this year’s BGT to enhance her personal growth.

According to a recently circulated flyer, she is scheduled to travel to Slovenia in Europe to impart her knowledge of the popular Ghanaian dance, Azonto, to the locals.

Through her social media, she posted a promotional poster for her upcoming trip to Slovenia and the dance class scheduled for July 14.

Afronitaa expressed her excitement about meeting the aspiring dancers she will be instructing during her visit.

Afronita and Abigail placed third at the 2024 Britain’s Got Talent show in London on Sunday, June 2.

Their mesmerizing choreography and compelling African narrative captured the hearts of audiences worldwide, proudly representing Ghana and Africa on the global stage.

During the finals, they delivered an exhilarating performance adorned in vibrant Ghanaian colours, clinching a spot in the top three out of the ten finalists.

Afronita, aged 20, and Abigail, aged 7, garnered immense support from Ghanaians both locally and internationally, with a large turnout at the event venue to cheer them on.

The diverse pool of finalists included a choir, a magician, and a Japanese skipping group.

Ultimately, Sydnie Christmas claimed the top prize, followed by Jack Rhodes in second place, and the dynamic duo of Abigail and Afronita in third.

Azonto is a dance and music genre originating from Ghana linked to the traditional Ga dance Kpanlogo, as reported by the Ghana News Agency.

This dance style is closely associated with the coastal towns of Chorkor, James Town, Teshie, Nungua, and Tema in the Greater Accra Region.

Historical records suggest that Azonto was previously referred to as ‘Apaa’ in these communities.

The Apaa dance, now known as Azonto, incorporates a series of hand gestures that either imitate daily activities, particularly those related to people’s livelihoods, or movements designed to entertain an audience.
