Minority Leader of Parliament, Alexander Afenyo-Markin, expressed concern about the activities of the investigative body, Operation Recover All Loot (ORAL), set up by President John Mahama to recover state assets.
In an interview on Joy News, he asked Samuel Nartey George, the Communications, Digital Technology, and Innovations minister-designate, about the body’s oversight of state land transactions, especially in affluent areas.
Afenyo-Markin pointed out that much of the attention on illicit property deals, particularly regarding state land, has been diverted away from prominent areas like Chain Homes, Cantonments, and Airport Hills.
“The entire Chain Homes was a state land that a private developer acquired from the state. Why is the so-called ORAL not interested in going to Chain Homes to question all the property owners that you have looted?” he questioned, addressing the failure of the investigation team to target properties that have seen widespread speculation, even by foreign investors.

He continued by highlighting a pattern of wealthy property ownership in regions such as Ridge and Roman Ridge, areas often known for high-end real estate investments.
“According to Afenyo-Markin, some of the individuals behind Operation Recover All Loot are reportedly tied to substantial property holdings in these locations. He went further to criticize these figures, suggesting they have created a false narrative of righteousness.
Afenyo-Markin also raised a controversial point regarding property ownership in Airport Hills, an exclusive neighbourhood known for its luxurious homes.
He claimed, “Who in this country will stay at Airport Hills and rent? That place you buy to own, the covenant in the agreement is that owner occupation, they won’t allow you to rent.” His comments suggested that many individuals, including those involved with ORAL, may be involved in questionable practices related to the ownership of state land.
